• System and memory requirements
Use the PageMaker 5.0 trial version for the Power Macintosh on any Power Macintosh computer. You’ll need at least 13.5 MB of free hard disk space to install the entire program. To run PageMaker, you’ll need a minimum of 5.5MB of free RAM with Virtual Memory turned off, or 2MB with Virtual Memory turned on.

• Multiple language versions
You can install any one of three language versions of PageMaker: US English, International English, or Canadian English. The differences between the versions include a small set of publication defaults and the spelling conventions displayed in the user interface of the PageMaker application.
US English: Paper size default: US Letter; Measurement system default: Inches; User interface spelling conventions: US English (e.g., “Color”).
International English: Paper size default: A4; Measurement system default: Millimetres; User interface spelling conventions: UK English (e.g., “Colour”).
Canadian English: Paper size default: US Letter; Measurement system default: Millimetres; User interface spelling conventions: UK English (e.g., “Colour”).

• PostScript™ printer driver
The LaserWriter 8 printer driver (version 8.1.1) is installed on your hard drive when you install the PageMaker 5.0 Trial Version. You must select this driver in the Chooser in order to print publications from the Trial Version to a PostScript printer. (Select “Chooser” from the Apple menu and click the “LaserWriter 8” icon. Select your printer, and then click “Setup….” Click “Auto Setup” in the dialog box and then click “OK.”)

• Compatibility with retail version
With the PageMaker 5.0 Trial Version, you can create and print sample publications using many of the features found in the retail version of PageMaker 5.0. However, you will be unable to open or print any publications created with the Trial Version in the PageMaker 5.0 retail product, and vice versa.

• Correction to documentation
The instructions for accessing context-sensitive Help on page 38 of the Aldus PageMaker 5.0 Trial Version manual are incorrect. To get help on a specific menu command, press Command + ?. Then, when the pointer tool changes to a question mark, choose the menu command for which you want to get help. (The Macintosh version of the PageMaker 5.0 Trial Version does not offer context-sensitive Help from specific dialog boxes.)
